Sunsets and changes

Howdy dear friends. I know it's been a while since I posted anything new or even had the desire to write anything here in the journal. Many changes in my life recently.

I would imagine a few of you have noticed the sunset bend in my work here lately. I have been really looking at them differently. Sure, the sky here in Western New York State is gorgeous this time of year, but its more than that.

Sunset is a magical time to me. When the day begins to close its eyes and the night comes alive. It's a transition period. Both beginning and end. And it's highly symbolic of where my life is just now.

In that time of myriad colors... there is also myriad possibilities. Nothing is certain. Nothing is exactly as it seems.
The colors confuse the eye with beauty so it forgets the darkness is coming.

But even in the Darkness there is life, and light. In the Dark, the mind takes over. The senses become more acute. We can discover our reality without the tricks our eyes play on us. Our spirits are allowed to define what is real, and was always false.

There is a very special woman in my life who said this to me...

"One of the things I like best about you is you notice things like this. Most people drive under gorgeous skies like this every day and never really see it. You, on the other hand, damn near cause accidents to pull over, hop out of your car, jump on the roof with camera in hand to get a shot of it."

So if you're ever behind me on the road as the day begins to fade and you see me suddenly whip my Buick onto the shoulder with no warning... For Fucks sake look up.

You don't want to miss it.
